At Cru vin & kjokken, the former chef at The Thief,
Kari Innera, a constant presence on Norwegian culinary
shows, is fashioning her own triumphs, such as scallops
with pickled cucumber, and pan fried hake that were
inspired by her mother's cooking
and traditional Norwegian recipes.
She's passionate about "finding
the greatest Burgun-dies," and
that translates into one of the most
extensive wine lists in Oslo.
Dining at her restaurant
could follow a visit to the nearby
botanical gardens, the Munch
Museet, and the Qvale Galleri, a
leading exhibition space for fine
art photography. "Norwegians
have a mushrooming interest
in many art forms so people are
now gravitating to-wards photos,"
says Marte Grette, a colleague of
Marten Qvale who's known for his fashion and beauty
photos. "Photography's future in Os-lo is very bright."
Offering more experimental work than Qvale, the
Shoot, Pug and Rod Bianco photography galleries are
also worth visiting. These relatively new spaces attest to
Oslo's ever-increasing thirst for varied art forms—and are
a perfect precursor to begin exploring the city's rapidly-
