a Gesamtkunstwerk of sorts, the newly conserved and rebuilt kitchen designed by Charlotte Perriand and Le Corbusier from the 1952 Unite d'Habitation housing project in Berlin. The alternation of finished wood, colorfully painted and polished metal surfaces, the spatial economy and grace of this room, remind me of another Ur-kitchen, the Frankfurt Kitchen designed by Grete Schuette-Lihotzky, which was reconstructed for the earlier wonderful Kinchin- curated MOMA exhibition, "Counter Space: Design and the Modern Kitchen."
