HYLAND CHI executives Constantino Castellano, Seth Pariser and Jared Flynn acknowledging strong attendance and lively interest from fairgoers. HYLAND Magazine and Christopher Hyland Inc.—the latter, the textile company—partnered with ICFF to curate a HYLAND textile exhibition during the fair: a first. The HYLAND textile exhibition paired great textile companies, including Rogers & Goffigon, Knoll, Romo, Zimmer + Rohde, Donghia, Quadrille, Jim Thompson, Christopher Hyland Inc. and Savel, with outstanding designers, each designer choosing a fabric to be exhibited. Choices were made by Mariette Himes Gomez, Stephen Bastone, Guillaume Gentet, Juan-Pablo Molyneux, Sam Botero, Robert Passal, Noha Hassan, Jamie Drake, Geoffrey Bradfield and Ellie Cullman. In a private reception held at the Museum of Modern Art in New York during the ICFF event at the Museum, a HYLAND Award was presented to MOMA Curator of Architecture & Design Juliet Kinchin. The presentation was made in recognition of her outstanding commitment to the advancement of 20th century and contemporary design and design scholarship. Kevin O'Keefe, Reed McMillan, Editor Kyle Marshall and others were present, with HYLAND writer Lisa Zeiger offering an homage. Further HYLAND Awards recognizing exceptional participants at the 2014 ICFF will be presented during an event at the Christopher Guy New York City showroom in October. The HYLAND Awards panel of judges comprised iconic furniture designer Vladimir Kagan, contemporary artist Edwina Sandys, interior designer Michael Simon, HYLAND Editor Kyle Marshall and myself.
