canvas tents—a sort of architectural triptych--painted inside and out in intricate detail in tempera on cotton and mixed media, which Clemente describes as his 'cave paintings', mobile chapels for contemplation of the sacred in the digital age. Clemente's "Tents" were produced in India, where Clemente spends part of each year, in Varanasi. (Part of Clemente's artistic practice is a privileged nomadism; as chronicled in his 1990 book, Three Worlds, which brings together over a hundred works on paper reflecting the artist's immersion in the three cultures of Italy, India and New York.) Tents are ancient, arguably among the first dwellings, dating to the early Iron Age and mentioned in Genesis HYLAND
