and literate. Many of them are exquisitely rendered
throwbacks to the heyday of book design, the early
1930s, but then again, Wine creates covers to comport
with interiors of many a different vintage and style.
For instance, in an ultra-modern California interior
designed by Steve Hermann, Wine wrapped 2000 books
in blank white covers—a Christo-like statement about
architecture and its contents, or perhaps just deference
to decorators' well-known penchant for making things
match.
In 2012, Wine completed a monumental project for the
new NoMad Hotel in Manhattan, curating a library of 3,500
books, a prominent feature endowing the renovated
