heights.
Among the price
records were Mark Grotjahn's
"Untitled (Standard Lotus No.
II, Bird of Paradise, Tiger Mouth
Face)" going for a stupendous
$6,510,000 to uber dealer Larry
Gagosian, who has 13 galleries.
That oil painting had been tagged
to reach $1.5-$2.5 million.
Other surprises included Zeng
Fanzhi's riveting 2011 "TheTiger"
which went for a hefty $5,040,000.
Further underscoring the trailblazing
prices, Robert Longo's charcoal
on paper "Untitled (Leo)" of a fierce
tiger skipped over it's $250,000$350,000 estimate and sold for
over an impressive $3 million. The
tiger is one of the Leonard DiCaprio
Foundation's key conservation
efforts and has helped establish
preserves in Nepal's Bardia National
