Counting hounds at the end of the hunt
Whether in England, China, India, South Africa, the
Emirates or the United States, much discussion
surrounds field sports such as Beagling. Suffice to
say, this sport, in tandem with many other pursuits,
contributes to sustaining aspects of rural culture. In
this instance, the rituals and traditions are complex but
they essentially form part of an ancient rite, hunting,
man or woman, accompanied by a field dog, pursuing
game.
Drag hunting, the pursuit of a scent manually distributed
across the countryside before the hunt begins, is
increasingly popular in many quarters, providing the
thrill of the chase without the inevitable results.
