aluminum clamp formerly used for repairing automobile
brakes, containing a concave mirror, vase and clay pigeon
at its nucleus, surrounded by magnets and iron filings. It
is only 6" X 12" in diameter; like a Faberge egg, in its own
way it is a highly wrought small vessel with openings and
closings, a container of fragments of material the artist
finds important. The artist, in this case, is himself a kind of
"Bloomhunter", a seeker after discarded industrial flora,
mining its rich morphology like a prospector, imbuing
the forgotten with new uses, new values, all the while
invoking, with admiration, the pervasive presence of the
