Cross—tools of salvation; and of the Belgian artist Marcel
Broodthaers, who lived in poverty as a poet until he began
to make objects, notably an unlimited edition of gold
ingots stamped with an eagle, emblem of his long-term
installation project, Musee d'Art Moderne, Department
des Aigles. Provisero, like Broodthaers, meditates on the
fluctuating value of art works in the market place and
over time; and like Beuys, on the almost sacred nous of
certain materials consecrated by their use in the work of
art, or, in his case, the work of rescue .
Bloomhunter is an altogether new machine—or more
accurately, a votive object—framed by a black, cast
