Each room is a microcosm of period style combined
with innovation. The foyer heralds the serious mining of
historic precedent engaged in by the designers. The stairs
are adorned with an iron railing based on an ornamental
arabesque pattern; at its base rests an Italian neoclassical
walnut settee with acanthus leaf carving of about 1790.
A Louis XV-style gilt bronze, four light lantern with curved
glass panels illuminates the hall. Above a chest of drawers
is a gilt framed family collection of pietra dura birds.
