Everywhere corners are adjusted, hard edges avoided.
To preclude the chance that such angles might be
missing and to convey a visual sense of strength that
they contribute, Liaigre has added subtle touches to
compensate their absence. Just beyond the curved
corners of the master stateroom bed base there are
robust polished nickel mortise-like inserts.
Naval architect Philippe Briand designed the 67.9 meter
(222 feet) Vertigo as a ketch, built by Alloy Yachts. She
is the largest sailing yacht in the southern hemisphere.
Her masts are 68.4 meters (224 feet) and 62.4 meters
(204 feet) tall. When completely under sail she has a
complement of North sails: a Genoa jib, a mainsail and a
mizzen sail. She also has a staysail, blade and gennaker.
Two Caterpillar engines propel her at speeds of up to
