(pro bono) contributor to the magazine, I relish the prospect
of putting myself in Christopher's shoes: devising the right
topic, adjusting my prose to a fresh audience, and building up
an argument that will always be as much a visual as a verbal
narrative.
My brother likes to say, rather slowly and with great emphasis,
that 'life is editing' – a constant process of making the right
decisions, sharpening one's focus, abandoning what doesn't
work, striving towards higher standards and appropriate goals.
'Editing' has perhaps become a clichéd term in the design
world, insinuating that only a proper decorator can relieve
your interiors (and life!) of that which is dated, redundant,
mismatched, or second-rate. But in Christopher's case the
