Ink wash drawing by Gerrit Hondius (1891 - 1970)
Hondius was born in Holland and lived and worked
in New York and Provincetown.
I think living in white rooms is boring. Colored walls allow
a better background for paintings and for people. She
believes, they are not widely inappropriate from an
historical point. The lavender dining room would have
been rare, but still very desirable as the pigments were
very costly. She has recently applied the same color
philosophy to the galleries at the Cape Cod Museum
of Art, where she is Director. This writer has seen the
excellent results.
