The President and the First Lady, Mrs. Margaret Abela,
who is Deputy Chairperson of the Fund, along with
other members, organize marathons, including ones
for the physically challenged; telecasts, balls, rock and
classical concerts, citrus fruit sales from the presidential
groves, caf�� sales at the President���s Kitchen Garden
and fundraisers throughout the year to raise money. The
President and First Lady lend their prestige to the Fund
without politicizing it, while also lending their support and
encouragement to countless other charities. The donors
are corporations and the general public. During the first
three years of the Abela presidency, approximately eight
million Euros have been raised, a substantial sum for a
country of 400,000.
