what I didn���t see. Not an object appeared to have been moved nor a personal touch added since my last visit. The stone Buddha hand was resting in the same position atop the stack of oversized art books. The matching sofas were still spotless and plumped within an inch of their lives. Even the wicks on the expensive designer candles scattered about the room showed no trace of ever being lit. The room was still beautiful and it was still decidedly elegant, but it was airless, as if all the life had slowly been drained out of it. How much more interesting would that room have been if it had been allowed to reflect the personal evolutions of its owners? If a few street market finds from South America had found their way onto a side table? If the sofa arms had been softened and worn by long conversations about Socrates? If the candles with hand-stamped labels on them like ���Roquebrune��� and ���Babylone��� had been allowed to infuse the room with their promised mystery? If the art books had been (gulp) opened? There is only one constant in life and that is change. Our personal spaces are a 3-D embodiment of ourselves and they become most vibrant when they are allowed to fully express the shifting nature of our passions. Are you restless by default? Good.
