These encounters, as did a similar London meeting, confirmed that a vibrant Order of Malta was happy to return to Malta to be part of the Republic of Maltas ongoing story. During these events, there was an English Knight resident in Malta. Dr. Farrugia introduced him to me after we visited the Order of Malta Blood Bank one afternoon. He was courtly in manner, fastidious in purpose and very clear in his positive regard for what I was doing. Our conversations were quite private. I felt an affinity for his character. We shared an interest in Himalayan culture; I had visited Nepal several times. Many years later, during my pilgrimage to Greek Orthodox Mount Athos in Greece, I remembered our discussion about Eastern Orthodoxy. Although I would not meet him again after these events, my encounters with him confirmed his support for my proposal. I am sure that he was extremely happy that the top of Fort San Angelo was eventually returned to the Order. But I am confident, based on the conversations I had with him, given the events that transpired subsequent to the acquisition that he was disappointed as the full realization of what we had discussed did not materialize.
