We imagined inviting the
Knights to showcase at
St. Angelo some of their
international
collections,
which are rarely if ever seen
in a full exhibition. Their
cartography
department,
perhaps the world���s most
important
collection
of
ancient maps, was just one
of the collections which could
be exhibited at St. Angelo for
easier international access
and visibility. I glimpsed
part of this collection during
the filming of ���Island of
Heroes,��� a documentary
film Lord Furness, a British
Knight, commissioned me
to produce in the 1960���s.
Our own Republic of Malta
National Library is replete
with an enormous amount of
documentation that belongs
to the time of the Knights.
We thought of placing more
than one museum in St.
Angelo, which would attract
people to the various issues
connected with the period
of the Knights in Malta. We
