That day, visiting St. Publius, I also received a gift. On my
first visit to Malta in 1963, I found an image that intrigued,
fascinated and transformed me, one that always lingered
but whose whereabouts, after some time, eluded me.
Decades passed. I remembered the image but couldn���t
remember where I had seen it. See it I did, its position
and the light around it influenced an aesthetic awareness
that began to develop after having viewed it. That Sunday
morning at Mass I saw it for the second time. I will be
writing about it in a future issue of HYLAND. Art does
inspire and there is something quite remarkable at St.
Publius.

nder the Maltese sun, the President and First Lady
walked a few blocks to the Vilhena Philharmonic Society,
a mainstay of parish life, stopping to chat at doorways
along the way. Often churches have competing band
clubs, some representing different political parties.
