It is especially in winter that the visitor can bask in the
unique interior ambiance The Rock has to offer. Being
myself a coward in the matter of sports, I would love to
be shipped off to The Ranch in the dead of December
so as to hibernate, all the more sedentary and secure,
in the middle of a rampaging blizzard: a Huysmans-like
orgy of seclusion. It is the contrast that appeals: the brutal
elements outside; the world of comfort both sensuous
and rough-hewn within.

with all manner of Western antiques, books and
photographs; suites of cowhide furniture; featherbeds as
