the next day by a neighbor, police had
raided one of the buildings. The poetic
beauty of the scene, triggering memories
of inspirational children's poetry and
stories, was brought about by a story that
was quite different in reality, in this case,
unfortunately, a dangerous one.
As Robert Louis Stevenson wrote, and as
represented by the numerous soft window
lights seen in these photographs:
There, safe arrived, we turn about
To keep the coming shadows out,
And close the happy door at last
On all the perils that we passed.
We cannot deny that which is unpleasant nor fail to participate in
identifying shortcomings in numerous situations: we cannot remove
ourselves from the world. We must seek solutions.
Still, in the nocturnal hours we find respite, calm and imagination.
