Side view of Villa Galtarossa.
In the most sparse, yet monumental covered terrace,
once part of the villas agricultural storage areas, the
Countess prepares and hosts, at the simplest of tables,
delicious fare, often from her own gardens. She is embracing, welcoming, thoughtful and dispenses insightful
suggestions, helping to organize the best outings. But,
it is truly the food that resonates. So simple. So tasty. I
ponder so often about that terrace, the food, the company with candles illuminating centuries of grit, the night
stars just beyond the arches and the Countess smiling
face at the end of the table. Caravaggio would find inspiration in this setting. We were immersed in an ambience
evocative of his paintings while at that table.
