The Countess daughter, sculptor Anna Galtarossa,
oversees ongoing efforts to preserve and restore the
villa, from its roof, statuary, and faade to its accompanying out buildings. A visit to the attic floor, my favorite
place for exploration, confirmed a now healthy roof, below which sits furniture set-aside by earlier generations.
Similar pieces are found in my guest bedroom, which resembles a state chamber with its wrought iron bed and
my favorite shade of rich blue. Meanwhile, the second
floor loggia with rattan furniture provides a thoroughly
18th century view of the forecourt, beyond which is the
long alle of giant cypress trees that culminate at a large,
baroque wrought iron gate.
