Few painters have captured Venetian light with the same
degree of satisfaction for the viewer. In a broad body
of work, Cresswell illuminates Baroque rooms, Renaissance facades, historic canals, sequestered courtyards,
ancient churches and the Venetian lagoon.
Several years ago Hirschl & Adler organized an exhibition of Creswell���s Venetian watercolors. Creswell���s Salute appeared on the catalogue���s cover. I purchased it
at once. It represented, just about, the best artistic portrayal of a building I had ever seen.
