Vigilio evokes creative thought as
much as it evokes pleasure.
A compelling menu encourages
daily visits and long stays at the
hotel. With numerous vineyards
in the Garda area and a large stock
from around the world, the cellar is extensive. San Vigilios own
extra-virgin olive oil, fresh lemons
and other local ingredients, varying seasonally, result in excellent
traditional Italian food. Vegetables
souffl, risotto allamarone and
grilled local fish seasoned in San
Vigilio olive oil are all notable. I
ordered floating island for dessert
but Catalan cream is a specialty.
The best tables in the restaurant, all
offering charming perspectives, are
at the five large round waters edge
arched windows and along the waterside of the garden, just above a
cluster of green situated between
the taverna and a small church.
These locations have a view over
the lower Lake Garda, the rock of
Stella and of the hotels own small
port.
