There is a pervasive sense of
humor everywhere; whimsical
figurines occasionally appear
on shelves. Framed images appear in tandem with frames void
of content. In the bathroom a
grand Venetian chandelier is
placed opposite a Herb Ritts
style photograph of two men,
and a Tyrolean hand-carved
whimsical animal of the forest
hook awaits your coat.
At the apartments entrance a
long wall of shelves from floor
to ceiling contain art, antique,
design and architectural books
of every subject. Monicellis collecting is informed by both experience and scholarship. His
own book, Ville Venet: The Villa
Civilization in the Mainland Dominion, published by Arsenale
Editrice, is considered by many
to be among the finest published
on Venetian villa architecture.
