Here, in Bastones own New York pied a terre, he embraces the Napoleonic Empire style with a wandering
aesthetic eye not unlike that of the periods namesake.
Such lavish attention to detail is a hallmark of Bastones
work. Napoleon Bonaparte, as does Bastone, journeyed beyond the confines of his rigidly delineated imperial aesthetic ideal.
Echoing Napoleons dalliance in Egypt, Bastone dresses
the master bed in a manner rivaling those bed-chambers the emperor might have visited in Cairo. The dining
table is set with vintage Fornasetti and a Russian empire
tea set and flatware from Alexander Antiques that might
have served the emperor had he reached Moscow.
