Go, just go to
the Galway
races!
CH
For visitors to the hectic Galway races seeking an antidote of solitude visit Inishmaan, the least frequented of
the remote Aran Islands, located in the middle of Galway
Bay. Once there, have a pint and vittles. Satisfied, walk
to the small church of St. Mary Immaculate, where you
will see some of the most transcendent stained glass
windows produced in Harry Clarkes remarkable studio
(see this editions article, Stained Glass Artistry: Harry
Clarke.)
But above all, the races are the thing! Important ones to
attend include the Galway Plate and the Galway Hurdle.
If your local track has become a bit too expected, too
routine, go to the Galway Races for the unexpected.
Guaranteed! But go! H
