Pugins mark, his presence, is felt in every room at Lismore.
The castle contains the largest privately owned collection of
Pugin furniture in the world. My bedroom furniture was all
Pugin: the tea table, Pugin; the dining room furniture, Pugin;
the entrance hall furniture, Pugin, and so on. The preponderance of this particular masters work is unique, even in Ireland
and Great Britain. Its presence affords the visitor a cognitive
experience unique to Lismore. Although Pugin never visited
Lismore, each time I viewed his ingenious designs in my bedroom, I imagined that he knew each one of them intimately,
before they made their way to these rooms.
