its twenty four shaded lamps. Another chandelier which
reveals the sheer whimsy in which this great house occasionally indulges is the ���Allume,��� topped with a silk
umbrella that might belong to Mary Poppins.
Among the vases pictured here my two favorites are visual opposites. The first is clear crystal, sharply ridged
and stepped, reminiscent of the beautiful Deco creations
of Daum. The second is jet black and smooth, incised
with a ferocious, swirling golden dragon.
Lamps and vessels are useful as well as beautiful, but
Baccarat���s signature is the seminal art object created in
glass, whose sole use is enchantment. Animal sculp-
