Biological Clock 1994 Mr. and Mrs. Henry Luce III donated Sandys��� Biological Clock, 1994 to the Brooklyn Museum. Together with Target of Abuse, 1994, in the artist���s own collection, these paintings explore the position of women, whom Sandys believes ������were second-class citizens and validated only by the men to whom they were attached.��� Caroline Seebohm, the book���s author, writes that Sandys early YinYang paper cutouts, paintings on canvas and sculptures express, ������the tension between light and dark, inner and outer forms and the attraction of opposites.��� Her major commission by Monsanto Corporation, Branches of Promise, 1989, best exemplifies the vision and the tenacity she applies to the numerous major commissions which she has completed for corporations, major international organizations and others.
