world oftentimes blind to thoughtful means and all too susceptible
to ill intent.
The underlying spirituality of Sandys��� work, however temporal
many of the issues might be, is evinced by Angel of Departing Soul,
a maquette for a memorial, 1995. It is a moving tribute to the
departed and an affirmation that an angel is guiding the departing soul to the hereafter. This work is every bit as romantic as its
nineteenth century counterparts, employing shadow and light, but
