of the design community, not to mention efforts of the designers
themselves. In the year Rihanna ascended the stairs of Wintourian
Heaven in a robe of Chinois lemon confection, inspiring waves of
awe and memes, it seems more appropriate to speak of macro and
micro worldviews colliding in a time of digitally trained eyes and a
renewed emphasis on makers' hands.
Emerald Expo's Kevin O'Keefe, ICFF's visionary leader, has grown
the fair thirty-percent last year as well as this year. Bold moves include
Italian exhibitors from Milan's HO.MI Fair, a Luxe. Magazine
luxury home section, extensive ASID events and a plethora of new
exhibitors.
e HYLAND Award for Lifetime Achievement in Design will be
presented to Tom Dixon at the ICFF opening night party at the
Museum of Modern Art, Saturday May 16
th

To celebrate the fusion of Art and Design, HYLAND Editor
Christopher Hyland commissioned Alexander Gendell of Folditure
to create an art installation in the form of a triptych, e Good Angels, a
synthesis of furniture and textile as art, honoring the creative energies
which form a common thread not only among the participants of
ICFF but among those who seek balance, the common good.
ICFF, in its extensive breadth, presents to the world the common
good found in the best of Design.
