BD. The "Bracelli" lamp was designed by Dali, inspired
by Frank's style, for Dali's Port Lligat house. It is of a
panel structure covered with gold leaf. The "Muletas"
and "Cajones" lamps are carved from pale limewood,
varnished.
Spanish designer Jaime Hayon has designed two
collections for BD, "Showtime", in 2006 and recently
"Gardenias," the latter an array of imaginative indoor
and outdoor furniture. Gaudi might have designed
the Gardenias armchair, made of cast and extruded
aluminum, so swooping and elongated are its curves,
the back and top of the chair curving into a "pergola"
which shelters the sitter from the sun. His fanciful
"Multileg" cabinet is a new classic.
On BD's international front, I am especially taken by
the team of Doshi Levien's "Shanty" cabinet, which, as
the title implies, is a patchwork of corrugated surfaces
