HYLAND It is often said that art can only be called such when its physical presence cleverly embodies a truth of interior life. The viewing of art often evokes in its audience an awareness of something that will undoubtedly differ from one viewer to the next. This, in a way, is art's magic. Interior design—while certainly an art—is, however, in its raw form, a canvas which permits its audience to experience a more universal truth. This is the magic of interior design. For the artist and designer alike, there is one essential idea to contemplate: can design alone create in its audience a desired experience?
