Christopher Hyland Inc.'s booth at the 2014 ICFF was more salon than stall, with old designer friends and new coming by to share their discoveries at the fair, often at great length, always with enthusiasm. It was a living room with three walls, its sleek, elegant furniture the expert handiwork of Simon's Upholstery, who used contemporary Christopher Hyland fabrics on a classic settee and three artfully mismatched armchairs. The result was a signature Hyland mix of styles and periods, not baldly eclectic, but rather a display that showed the continuity and connectivity between our own era and the past. A panoply of curtains and sheers, installed by David Michael Interiors, completed the soigné mise en scene. Among the largely post-modernist displays at hand, the Hyland booth represented the ongoing vitality of classicism in the modern era, tweaked, of course, by the presence of contemporary textiles that possess, HYLAND Furniture by Simons Upholstery, textiles and rugs by Christopher Hyland Inc.
