HYLAND in the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Las Vegas. Tihany acted as a design consultant to Adamson Architects in the development of the hotel, designed to reflect the "brand's Asian essence with Vegas-style, show-stopping charisma." Drenched in red and gold, the hotel's sophisticated opulence is accented with statement pieces like the "gold bullion" wall and the 7-foot clay sculptures by artist Jun Kaneko. At the heart of the hotel, Twist features Gagnaire's contemporary French cuisine and brilliant floor-to-ceiling views of the Vegas strip. Though very much a part of the hotel, Twist is its own entity, a unique experience for diners. The white tablecloths and lighter purple shades reflect the sophistication of the food and of the chef himself. Staying true to the location, Tihany incorporated statement pieces within the restaurant, including a glass staircase leading upward to the impressive suspended wine loft and the three hundred golden globes that appear to float down from ceiling to create a candlelit glow. From the luxurious and mysterious welcoming of the dark- wood floored lobby to the serene and whimsical Twist, the Mandarin Oriental guests experience the hotel as Tihany artfully planned. The Mandarin Oriental is the only venue in Vegas to have achieved triple Forbes Five Star recognition for the hotel, spa, and restaurant (Twist). Below: The Joule Penthouse
