Palo Samko, based in Brooklyn, builds furniture from salvaged wood, cherishing its imperfections, showcasing rather than excising them. One of the images on his website, of a pile of furniture in flames, points to the crucible of use, even destruction, which constitutes Samko's chosen fund of material.
