Rodolfo Dordoni's 'Corte' armchair, upholstered either in
fabric or leather and available
in thirteen different colors,
makes an original contribution
to this key rubric of design.
Speaking personally, I believe
the whole history of 20th and
now 21st century design
could be writ in the forms of
chairs. A chair, because of its
compactness and potential
diversity of components
permits a designer to express
him or herself more fluently
than any other piece of
furniture. 'Corte' reminds me
of the seminal creations of
Pierre Chareau, becoming an
elegant, eloquent asset to any
room.
A table: yet another striking
Lievore Altherr Molina piece
is the 'Gher,' shown here with
an oval white-lacquered top,
its tapered legs dramatically
splayed, reminiscent of Jean
Prouve's work.
Finally, of all things, round
c u s h i o n e d p o u f s — b o t h
indoor and outdoor—like large
pincushions or pneumatic lily
