igelow-Silver is nothing if not international.
Based in that most sophisticated, private and sometimes
mysterious of American cities, San Francisco, this pair of
Australian-born designers extends their practice to Perth,
Sydney and Hong Kong; there is a down-under and Asian
inflection of streamlined simplicity in all their projects. This
downtown Sydney penthouse apartment, overlooking
the Sydney Opera House, in the elegant Aurora building
designed by Renzo Piano, is best viewed by night, when
the city's skyline is seen in deepest indigo from the capa-
cious windows and skylights. This true blue is the true
backdrop to the apartment's discreet neutrals: cinnamon,
charcoal grey and beige, derived from Piano's elegant
exterior finishes of custom Italian terracotta tiles and grey
marble.
