tall four-poster bed is composed of massive stalks of
natural bamboo; in another, against a wall painted
citrine yellow, is a chaste white bed which would be
at home in a Devon cottage. In the same room, a trio
of Sevres porcelain, in malachite
green with gilt mounts adorns
the dressing table, a charmingly
anachronistic and eclectic touch.
On the wall, a realistic painting
of two small children presides. A
faded Oriental rug completes this
near-country house scenario.
Behrooz has created in this house
a tale of two interiors, one, a
strikingly formal, modern setting
for an eclectic art collection, the
other, a series of cozy rooms,
comfort zones where the occupants may enjoy rather
more anachronistic decorative pleasures in private.
Both narratives are a success; it is refreshing to see a
house where more than a single style is permitted. H
