Molo creates furniture, space partitions—called softwall and softblock—and lighting that are fluid in form, often, as in the case of partitions, flexible, featuring unexpected curves, alluring twists and turns, and above all, illuminated translucency. One thinks of the 19 th century architect and decorative arts historian Gottfried Semper's assertion that the first dwellings were made of textile—tents, essentially. Molo makes walls of cloth, paper, corrugated cardboard that defy solidity yet provide barriers and privacy. ICFF consistently and creatively explores and promotes design that challenges our settled notions of material and form, even our notion of what constitutes an object, leading the way in the 21 st century towards a certain poetry of the interior that is yet eminently practical.
