orchestrated for Texas oilman John Havens and his wife,
Terri, is the realization of both the couple's Francophile
dreams and her own.
Steichen, interestingly, notes that Hollywood style has a
"history of a certain caliber of design that is never reflected
upon. Life is a set in the land of the dream makers…it is a
style that has never really even been ventured upon. The
key words here are Neo Moorish-Southern French Country,
and, in a sense, Hollywood Babylonian. It's a set to live
in…compared to the cocktail you drink…the glass matches
your interior. Hollywood Style is most of all 'historic' and
that comes from knowledge of…art direction and its past
presentations of finery which ran off into private residences."
