something every day, and it doesn't have to be from a
professor or a genius. One has to be open to what's
around one, [phone rings] always in a position of judging:
yes, no, perhaps, maybe. And I love the kids around me
contributing to that. I really have a very critical mindset,
I think that goes with the, talent's too strong a word, it
goes with the field. I mean, I really walk through the city
with a skeptical eye…[but] then something will take my
fancy…a constant analysis of what's going on around
me. And I really encourage those who work with me, to
have a similar acute sense of their surroundings.
What qualities lend themselves to success in design?
One needs to be ambitious. If you don't have ambition,
you won't get off the mark. I also think luck plays a role,
