Heisel, with husband Scott Taylor and designer Doug
Meyer, has taken the very modest space of a Manhattan
apartment and enlarged its radius through optical
illusion, making it a place of the imagination as well as
a dwelling. The designer's habit of drawing has taken
over her apartment space in a most intriguing way.
They limned the walls and floors of her kitchen and
dining area with angular designs composed of black
electrical tape; in her bedroom an undulating series of
black lines sheathe bed, floors and walls in a loopy,
continuous sprawl, so that furniture and background
meld into a single entity.
