Yet one can hardly talk about Lyons in the present day
without first taking the time to delve into its past. Set to the
task of building a "grand Georgian mansion" by the estate's
owner Nicholas Lawless, the acclaimed architect Oliver
Grace completed the house at the end of the 18th century.
It was further developed by Lawless' son, Valentine, over
the course of the proceeding decade, including the import
of three shiploads of classical art from Italy to fill each room.
