back to a unique comic book called Martin Luther King, Jr.
and the Montgomery Story, published in 1958 with substantial
contributions to its formation by Martin Luther King, Jr. himself.
The comic book graphically recounts the story of the 1955 bus
boycott, of which Rosa Parks was the protagonist. Lewis read
this comic book and was inspired by it to become an activist
himself, the youngest one of the era. Words and illustrations, like
words and photography, are powerful catalysts for change.
Dr. King's words to me remain to this day the single most artistic
and beautiful expression ever uttered by another human being
and directed at me in conversation.
