petite bar from Denmark, c. 1960; the table lamp is
made from a 1950s French helmet. In the living room
there is the de rigeur Barcelona chair, illuminated by a
beautiful yellow hanging wall lamp by Arteluce, c. 1950.
The curious, almost tribal rope table beneath it is by
Christian Astuguevieille for Holly Hunt; a pair of armchairs
by Robsjohn-Gibbings completes the scenario.
In the bedroom two vintage
le Corbusier LC1 chairs
from the 1970s parry with
a capacious contemporary
bed from
B & B Italia,
dressed with a wild, silvery
fur throw by Adri. The
sleek mirrored mahogany
commode in the study,
its drawers gilt-edged, is
1950s French.
All in all, the Desio-Villalobos
alliance has achieved a jewel
box of an apartment, with
pieces well chosen from the
past as an ever-modern showcase for art that is more
than modern. It is a place of learning as well as luxury, a
small, perfect repository of the avant-gardeāof several
eras. H Lisa Zeiger
