The bedroom is a Whistlerian composition of pale grays and whites, with hints of mauve—on the upholstery of the chaise longue, the edging of the pillowcases, in a feathery silk throw. Against the silvery walls are small pieces of sleek, dark veneered furniture. Egan has created a place to chill, without being chilly. The plainness of her composition invites the owners, very gradually and with ever so much care, to add significant works of art to a container perfectly made for their exhibition, and, indeed, veneration.
