goddess…who has selected road travel as her
supreme delight…"
Today's version of the Spirit of Ecstasy is slightly
smaller than her forebears, three inches tall and
mounted on a spring-loaded mechanism designed
to retract instantly into the radiator shell if struck
from any direction. She proudly adorns the Silver
Seraph, and the Corniche, of the same body style,
a fleet, silvery figure (today made of nickel) whose
allure speaks, not just of speed and silence, but of
a driver's—and artist's—love and admiration for his
muse. H
