Of the couple's tandem taste, Albert Villalobos says,
"Mercedes and I have very strong backgrounds that have
truly defined our sense of aesthetic. These somehow
mesh extremely well…When we go on buying trips, we
get to share each other's point of view and as a result
always end up with a mix of pieces that offer, at least in
our eyes, a wide range of forms, materials an d design,
each representing a time or feel. We pick pieces that tell
a story that hopefully clients will connect with and that
will enhance their experience."
The happy symbiosis Villalobos speaks of is most evident
in their apartment, where the pair have amassed an
important collection of difficult art, spiky and arresting
